Does anyone have any hair dye? [ a certain someone's roots are showing like crazy. ] I think I could use a haircut too. [ somewhere off screen and further back, JD the dog gives a wheezy bark. Shizuo turns away for a second. ] You probably could too, huh?

Anyway. The name's Heiwajima Shizuo. If you've got any let me know.

[ and throughout the day, the fortissimo of ikebukuro can be seen running a few quick errands. laundry, grocery shopping, even the occasional pause at the fountain to shoot it a dirty look.

[ He looks from Shizuo to the dog. ]

If he hangs here all the time I'm surprised he's not fatter.

Yeah. He's the bar's dog. [ who happens to only listen to me. for some unfathomable reason. ]

We don't really sell food, but he's a lot bigger than he was.

What's his name?

[ Realizing that he hasn't been polite enough to initiate an introduction yet, Firo stops paying all the attention to the dog and looks back at Shizuo. ]

Actually, what's yours? I don't think we've met.

Just Dog. [ yeah. shizuo's creative. ]

Heiwajima Shizuo.

Nice to meet you.

[ The dog's name makes him chuckle softly, even though he's well aware he couldn't think up a better name. ]

That's a good name for a dog.

[ a nod.

JD paws at the man's shoe. food.

Shizuo just... sort of sighs and gives the animal a mildly exasperated expression. ]

[ Firo's attention is diverted once again to the dog and he reaches down to give JD a few pats on the head. ]

Is he hungry?

He already ate. He picked up begging from someone and wants the food people come in with.

[ Firo looks at JD in amusement. He supposes there is some sense in trying to scrounge for food while you can, but this seems excessive. ]

Is that normal for a dog? Don't they normally do tricks, you know, "sing for their supper?"

I think strays just beg.

[ the animal plunks down on shizuo's foot and looks at firo. ]

Have you tried teachin' him some tricks?

[ Firo holds his empty hands out to the dog. ]

I've got nothin' for you, pal.

He half knows how to fetch.

[ Firo laughs and says sarcastically: ]

Impressive.

And they say you can't teach an old dog a new trick.

Hey, if it's an exceptional dog...

[ He chuckles and scratches behind the dog's ears. ]

I'm not sure about that... But he's some dog, I guess.
