it's about 11PM. all is quiet - not a creature was stirring, not even a ]

[ well, scratch that. luceti, this night you're treated to the sight of a very angry blonde man wielding a door, chasing after a smaller man, all the while roaring at the top of his lungs. i hope you weren't trying to sleep or be productive. ]

[ Oblivious to the commotion taking place, Martel was seated snugly in an armchair, reading a book. The book was later gently rested on her lap as she made a content glance out the window. Yes, she was in utter peace . . .

At least she was until she saw two blurred figures, one wearing a black jacket and another chasing after him with a door while roaring at the top of his lungs. It took awhile for her to process what she saw, but it didn't take long for her to decide to stop them.

Setting the book onto the table, she rushed out of the door and chased after the two men. ]

Wait! Whatever it is that you're two are arguing about, I'm sure we can talk this through! There's no need to resort to violence!

[ Not one to risk anything, she steps right in front of the black-haired man in case the blond was planning on throwing the door. She's not sure what was going but she can at least tell who had the advantage and disadvantage.

Of course that doesn't mean she's jumping to conclusions. She's a fair person and willing to hear things out, anything to avoid physical conflict. ]

Nonsense! We can work this out. Just please, the both of you, calm down. Sir, you can also put down that door if you'd please.

[ She keeps a nice calm smile on her face as if everything was right with the world. Yep, she enjoys viewing the world in a positive way. ]

[ unfortunately for martel, the door was already on it's way out of his hands. it's only after he's already chucked it that he realizes there is a woman in the way and despite a desperate grab, it's too far gone. ]

[ Her face turns paper white as she watches the door soar right towards her. She's so busy bracing herself she barely hears Izaya's warning. It wasn't until she's thrown to the ground and the sound of him taking the full brunt of the fall she realizes that she's saved. She gives herself a few moments to fully process what happened before getting off of Izaya and giving him a feeble but grateful smile. ]

[ She glances at Shizuo. ] Are you alright?

[ what the hell? why is she- shizuo takes a halfstep forward, clenching his fists. he can't be thankful towards izaya for this - this was izaya's doing. if it weren't for him then he wouldn't be angry and he wouldn't be using violence.

so clearly he needs to get rid of him so he won't have to use it again. ]

[ Her smile fell. She pushes herself up and deliberately blocks Shizuo's way to Izaya. Her voice comes out calmly with a bit of a motherly tone in it. ]

I'm sorry, but I can't do that. Not unless you calm yourself first.

I don't like hitting girls, so move!

[ and he doesn't want to at all. but he's angry and he never thinks clearly when he's this mad. ]

[ Most people would have already moved at this point but not her. ]

But if I do you'll hurt this man!

[ A look of awe and shock appeared on her face. Hopefully? Was he intending to die just to protect her, someone he doesn't even know? Right as she reached out to him, he slipped away from her grasp and was on the run again. ]
